Kipyego Breaks the 5K School Record

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego won the MT. SAC Relay 5K in Walnut, Calif. in a school record and NCAA Regional time of 15:11.88.
Kipyego, a six-time national champion, broke her previous school record by over seven seconds. She was two seconds from breaking her second NCAA record of her career as she owns the 10K record. Kipyego's time is the top collegiate mark this season and third best mark in the world.
Fellow All-American Irene Kimaiyo finished tenth setting a new personal record in the 5K with a NCAA Regional time of 15:43.50. Kimaiyo's time is the second fastest collegiate time.
Freshman Gilbert Limo ran his first 5K of his career. He finished 18th in a NCAA Regional time of 14:10.72.
