Kipyego Wins Big 12 Athlete of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego was awarded the Big 12 Athlete of the Week for winning the Mt. SAC Relays 5000 meter in a school record time of 15:11.88.
Kipyego broke her own school record in the 5000 meters by over seven seconds. The time is the fastest collegiate time this year and currently the third fastest in the world. She was only two seconds away from breaking the NCAA record. The award is the second of Kipyego's career.
Kipyego will be traveling this weekend to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays. A preview of the event can be found by logging onto www.texastech.com.
