LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego set a new collegiate record in the 10,000-meter finishing third with a time of 31:25.45 at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational.
The six-time NCAA Champion broke her school and collegiate record by over 30 seconds. She has the fastest time in the NCAA by over 45 seconds and the time automatically qualifies her for the NCAA Championships in June.
Equally as impressive was Irene Kimaiyo's fifth place finish in the 3K steeplechase. Kimaiyo was the fastest collegiate runner and ran a collegiate leading time of 9:55.12. It breaks the school record she set last week by over 24 seconds.
Freshman Gilbert Limo finished ninth in the second section of the men's 3K steeplechase. He ran a time of 8:54.54.
