Kipyego Wins Big 12 Athlete of the Week Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Sally Kipyego was named the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Week for her
NCAA record breaking performance at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games. The eight-time NCAA champion ran an 8:48.77 in the 3,000M breaking the previous NCAA record of 8:49.28 set by Kim Smith of Providence in 2004. The time is a personal-best, school-record time and the second fastest in the world. She finished second to 2008 Olympian Kara Goucher by only two seconds.
Kipyego and the Tech track teams will run at the Tyson Invitational and Texas A&M Invitational this weekend.
