Roberts Runs Fastest 400M in the World

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas Tech's Gil Roberts won the men's 400M at the Texas A&M Invitational with a world-leading time of 46.17.
Roberts' time is a personal-best and breaks the school record of 46.34 set by Albert Booker in 2003. The field included 2008 Olympian Tabarie Henry and Baylor All-Americans Marcus Boyd and Quentin Summers.
Junior Omo Osaghe ran a personal-best time of 7.77 to place second in the men's 60M hurdles. His time is also a NCAA provisional mark. On the women's side, Tori Smith finished sixth with a time of 8.47.
Freshman Terra Evans continues to make big strides as she placed seventh in the women's 200M. Her time of 23.87 is a NCAA provisional mark and a personal-best.
The Red Raiders finished first and third in the men's triple jump. Anthony Flemons won with a NCAA provisional mark of 52'-1.75" while Darrell Roddick placed third with a NCAA provisional jump of 51'-1.50".
Amarillo native Kelsey Lloyd placed second in the women's high jump clearing a height of 5'-9.75".
Ozie Okolie threw 58'-1.25" in the women's weight throw to place third.
Harrison Benjamin threw 57'-6.50" to place third overall in the men's shot put.
Kelly Wilson cleared a personal-best in the pole vault with a height of 15'-9.25" to place fifth.
The Lady Raiders had two personal-best times in the 800M. Kearci Jobe ran a 2:14.92 to place eighth and Shannon Jackson was ningth with a time of 2:15.47.
The women's 4x400M relay of Trudeann Clarke, Terra Evans, Sandra Iwunze and Kelsey Lloyd placed sixth with a season-best time of 3:41.74.
The men's 4x400M relay of Markus Henderson, Brandon Washington, Tim Foster and Gil Roberts, despite dropping the baton ran a NCAA provisional time of 3:10.00 to place third to Baylor and Texas A&M.
At the second day of the Tyson Invitational, Tech earned several personal-best marks.
Asia Diaz ran a personal-best time of 9:47.02 in the 3,000M to place second. Kaci Westervelt clocked a personal-best time of 10:24.55.
Michelle Guzman finished eighth in the 5,000M with a personal-best time of 17:23.67. Red Raider Logan Culotta ran a personal-best in the men's 5,000M placing 5th with a time of 15:21.81.
Corry Higgns ran a personal-best of 8:20.40 in the 3,000M placing seventh.
The No. 9 Red Raiders finished the meet second overall with 85 points and No. 14 Lady Raider placed seventh with 49 points. The next meet for Texas Tech will be the Big 12 Championships held at the Gilliam Indoor Track & Field Stadium in College Station, Texas on Feb. 27th and 28th.
