Lady Raiders Jump Two Spots in USTFCCCA Rankings

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech No. 10 men's and No. 12 women's track teams have been a fixture in the USTFCCCA rankings this season and made some moves a week before the Big 12 Championships being held in College Station, Texas.
The No. 12 Lady Raiders moved up two spots in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings, compiled by Tom Lewis. Tech is the third ranked Big 12 team and one of six in the Big 12 ranked.
Three Lady Raiders are in the top 10 of the national list. Sally Kipyego is first in the mile (4:32.01) and second in the 5,000M (15:54.36). Patience Knight is fourth in the nation with a throw of 54'-9.25" and Ozie Okolie sits sixth in the weight with a mark of 66'-3.75".
The men's team dropped a spot to No. 10 despite Gil Roberts' second-fastest time in the nation in the 400M with a 46.17. Omo Osaghae's 7.72 converted 60M hurdles time is third overall and Anthony Flemons jump of 25'-6" in the long jump is eighth and his mark of 53'-00.25" in the triple jump is sixth. The men are the fifth ranked Big 12 sqaud in the rankings and nine schools are ranked overall in the Big 12.
Texas Tech begins competition at the Big 12 Championships on Fri., Feb. 27 through Sat., Feb. 28.
