Tech Earns Four NCAA Provisional Marks at Last Chance Meet

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 11 Red Raiders and No. 11 Lady Raiders track squads had four NCAA provisional marks at the Iowa State Last Chance Qualifier and now must wait for the NCAA declaration lists to see if they have a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Asia Diaz won the women's 800M with a NCAA provisional time of 2:08.36. Gladys Kipsang was right on her heels as she ran a NCAA provisional time of 2:08.39.
Darrell Roddick won the men's triple jump with a NCAA provisional mark of 51'-00.25". The mark fails to improve on his season best of 51'-9.25".
The men's 4x400M relay of Rodney Mims, Markus Henderson, Brandon Washington and Gil Roberts won its heat but placed fifth overall. The Red Raiders ran a NCAA provisional time of 3:07.44 which improves on its previous best time of 3:08.48
Amanda Alley placed fourth at the meet with a mark of 12'-7.50" but failed to clear a NCAA provisional height. The junior's best mark of the season is 13'-3.75".
Rodney Mims and Lamont Adams both ran the men's 400M. Mims finished in ninth place with a time of 47.61 and Foster ran a 48.74 to place 16th.
Jamele Mason ran an 8.08 in the prelims of the 60M hurdles and failed to make it to finals.
Texas Tech now waits until Mon., March 9th, for the NCAA declaration lists to come out. The next meet for Tech will be the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas, on Fri., March 13th and 14th.
