Osaghae Sets School Record in 110M Hurdles

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track squad opened up the Terry and Linda Fuller Track Complex a little later than expected, but racked up 16 NCAA Regional marks and a school record at the Texas Tech Twilight Open.
Osaghae set a school record with a NCAA Regional time of 13.51 in the 110M hurdles. His time won the event and broke the record set by Marlon Odom back in 2007.
Texas Tech women swept the three throw events. Ozie Okolie won the women's hammer throw with a NCAA Regional mark of 203'-02". D'Andra Carter threw a NCAA Regional distance of 171'-03" to win the women's discus and Patience Knight won the shot put with a NCAA Regional mark of 54'-3.25".
Harrison Benjamin threw his second-straight NCAA Regional mark in the shot put. He won the event with a throw of 56'-10.75". Tyler Menges was third with a throw of 54'-00.50".
The women's 4x100M relay of Jonisha Boleware, Terra Evans, Tori Smith and Trudeann Clarke ran a NCAA Regional time of 44.89 to place second.
Anthony Flemons won the men's long jump with a wind-aided jump of 24'-11". Waylon Randolph qualified for the NCAA Regional meet jumping 24'-1.75" to place fourth. Darrell Roddick came in fifth with a mark of 23'-11.50".
Lillian Badaru ran a NCAA Regional time of 4:28.69 to win the women's 1500M. Michelle Guzman placed second running a 4:44.60. Gilbert Limo finished second in the men's 1500M with a 3:51.54.
Smith ran her first NCAA Regional mark of the year in the 100M hurdles. She placed third with a 13.86.
Trudeann Clarke qualified for the NCAA Regional meet in the 400M. Her time of 54.50 put her third overall.
Terra Evans ran her third NCAA Regional mark in the 100M as she won the event with an 11.62.
Asia Diaz regionally qualified in the 800M with a time of 2:09.83 and placed third overall. Gladys Kipsang (2:10.76) was third and Kearci Jobe (2:14.48) was fifth.
Sandra Iwunze won the women's 400M hurdles with her first NCAA Regional time of 59.93. Jamele Mason ran a personal best and NCAA Regional time of 51.15 to win the men's 400M hurdles.
Gil Roberts and Omo Osaghae both ran NCAA Regional times in the 200M. Roberts ran a 21.02 to place third and Osaghae was fourth with a 21.26
Amanda Dowdy won the women's high jump by clearing 5'-3". Justin Turner was second in the men's high jump with a mark of 6'-6.75".
Brian Porter won the men's pole vault with a height of 16'-00.75". Chuck Zavala was third with a mark of 14'-1.25".
Bernard Hammonds placed third in the men's triple jump with a mark of 44'-10.75". Brett McDaniel placed second in the discus with a throw of 160'-10".
Addison LeMaster won the women's 5,000M with a time of 18:07.25.
Texas Tech's women's 4x400M relay of Iwunze, Boleware, Clarke and Lloyd won the race with a time of 3:42.39. The men's 4x400m relay won its race with a time of 3:09.77. Rodney Mims started the race followed by Lamont Adams who handed off to Tim Foster and Brandon Washington ran anchor.
Kaci Westervelt finished second in the women's 3,000M steeple chase as she ran a time of 11:58.15. Nathan Milles crossed the line in second on the men's side running a 9:48.12 and Logan Culotta was third with a time of 9:55.69.
