Tech Struggles on First Day of Penn Relays

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track squad struggled the first day at the Penn Relays held in Philadelphia, Penn., as Gilbert Limo was the only one to score a NCAA Regional qualifying mark.
Limo had the best time of the day for Tech as he ran the 3,000M steeplechase. He finished fourth in a time of 8:50.13 which is the second of the season in that event.
The distance medley relay ran finished in fifth that included teams such as Tennessee, Georgetown, Villanova and Penn State. The group of Asia Diaz, Kelsey Lloyd, Gladys Kipsang and Lillian Badaru ran a time of 11:26.92.
The women's 4x100M relay of Jonisha Boleware, Terra Evans, Tori Smith and Trudeann Clarke ran a time of 46.00 to place ninth.
The 4x400M of Boleware to Clarke to Evans to Sandra Iwunze ran a 3:46.94 and crossed the line in 18th overall.
Iwunze and Lloyd both ran the 400M hurdles in times of 1:03.50 and 1:04.32, respectively, and neither qualified for finals.
