LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's track program are in contention for the top overall women's program in the nation going into the NCAA Outdoor Championship as it is currently third in the NCAA Division I Terry Crawford Program of the Year Award rankings.
The award given by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honors the school that has achieved the most success in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field based on the finish at the NCAA Division I Championships.
To be eligible the school must first qualify for the NCAA Championships and scoring is based on a school's finish at the meet. The Lady Raiders were seventh at the NCAA Cross Country Championships and ninth at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Tech has the potential to finish in the top 10 on the women's side for the third year in a row which would be a first for the program.
