Lamb Leaps to Second-Best Long Jump Mark in NCAA

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Invitational's first day was a good one for the Red Raiders as freshman Bryce Lamb jumped to No. 2 on the NCAA descending order list in the long jump and Tech finished the night with three NCAA Provisional marks.
Lamb wasted little time showing his potential in the long jump. On his second jump of the competition, Lamb won the event with a NCAA Provisional mark of 7.81M (25'-7.50"). The mark is second best in the NCAA currently. Teammate Darrell Roddick placed second in the long jump with his first NCAA Provisional mark of the year.
The Lady Raiders `A' distance medley relay of Purity Biwott, Trudeann Clarke, Gladys Kipsang and Caroline Karunde won the race with a NCAA Provisional time of 11:29.43. The `B' squad of Lillian Badaru, Jonisha Boleware, Shannon Jackson and Winrose Karunde finished in second with a time of 11:49.00.
The men's `A' distance medley relay of Gilbert Limo, Zach Plinario, Thomas Cattin-Masson and Silas Kemboi won the race with a time of 9:54.16.
Sophomore Meshawn Graham won the women's 600Y with a 1:23.56 improving on her time of 1:25.03 from a week ago.
Junior Kelsey Lloyd won the women's high jump clearing 1.69M (5'-6.50"). The Red Raiders had Justin Turner jumping on the men's side. Turner cleared 1.99M (6'-6.25") tying for sixth place.
Sophomore Terra Evans ran a 24.47 to place second in the women's 200M. Freshman Candace Jackson finished in fourth with a time of 24.74. On the men's side Rashad Hawk and Markus Henderson ran the exact same time of 21.44 to tie for third overall.
In the weight throw, Ozie Okolie placed second with a throw of 17.79M (58'-4.50").
Tomorrow's events start at 9 a.m. with the women's pole vault and the rest of the field events at 10 a.m. The running events will begin at 11:30 a.m.
