LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team is heading toward the end of its fall season, and throughout the remainder of the semester Texas Tech Athletics Communications will take an inside look into the Tech program with Red Raider Profiles on each player.
Robbie Kilcrease (LHP - 6-0, 190 - L/L - RS Jr./2L - Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock)
Robbie Kilcrease was one of four Red Raiders who missed all of the 2010 season after having Tommy John surgery to repair his injured left elbow. Kilcrease, who enters his third year playing with Tech in 2011, has made 41 career appearances while pitching in 83.0 innings.
He has a 5-1 record in two seasons with the Red Raiders. He went 2-0 his first season in 19 appearances. He threw 35.0 innings with 24 strikeouts - limiting opponents to a .288 batting average in 2008.
His sophomore season he went 3-1 with four starts and 22 appearances. He tallied 48 innings pitched in 2009 with 38 strikeouts and combining on one shutout.
"Even though Robbie missed all of last year he is an experienced guy," head coach Dan Spencer said. "He has pitched in a lot of games out of the bullpen. I think he has also had a year to mature. He had a chance to see everything from the outside looking in while he was rehabbing. He could be a major factor for us as a starter on the weekend."
Kilcrease is one of nine left-handed pitchers listed on the Red Raiders' fall roster.
