Red Raiders and Lady Raiders Move Up in USTFCCCA Rankings

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders moved up to No. 7 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and the Lady Raiders made its first appearance in the rankings at No. 23.
The men's team was No. 9 last week but jumped up two spots after some outstanding performances at the conference meet. Bryce Lamb won two titles at the meet in the long jump and triple jump. His marks catapulted him into the top five nationally in each and his marks were school and Big 12 meet records. Omo Osaghae was the other standout as he set a school record in the 60M hurdles with a 7.63, which is the second-fastest time in the nation.
The Lady Raiders make its season debut in the USTFCCCA rankings at No. 23. Freshman Shade Weygandt has helped the ranking as she cleared 4.33M (14'-2.50") to win the Big 12 Indoor pole vault title and moves to No. 4 on the NCAA descending order list. Kelsey Lloyd sits 12th on the pentathlon descending order list and the duo of Caroline Karunde and Purity Biwott are 12th and 14th, respectively, in the mile. The women's distance medley relay is currently sixth in the nation with a school record time of 11:10.28.
Tech will send a few student-athletes to the Iowa State and Washington Last Chance meets before preparing for the NCAA Indoor Championships being held in Fayetteville, Ark., on March 12-13.
