- Texas Tech is now 11-12 on the season (10-4 at home) after today's 10-9 win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
- After suffering through a seven-game losing skid, the Red Raiders have won their last three games with a 13-7 win at No. 23 Texas A&M on Sunday and a midweek sweep of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
- Today's game marked the 13th overall meeting between the Red Raiders and the Islanders. Tech now leads the all-time series 11-2.
- Freshman second baseman Jamodrick McGruder had his eight-game hit streak come to an end this afternoon as went 0-for-3 at the plate. McGruder did draw a pair of walks and that led to two runs scored.
- Sophomore designated hitter Scott LeJeune drove in four runs on three hits to pace the Tech offense. His nine multiple-hit games and eight multi-RBI games lead the team.
- Sophomore catcher Kevin Whitehead extended his career-long hit streak to six games today with an RBI base knock as part of the six-run fifth inning. Taylor Ashby and Stephen Hagen each have five-game streaks going while Barrett Barnes has hit safely in each of his last four.
- Sophomore right-hander Brennan Stewart turned in a career effort today as he posted five innings of relief work and that ultimately led to his first career win.
