Weygandt Wins Pole Vault Title at Mt. Sac Relays

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech freshman Shade Weygandt won the women's invitational pole vault at the Mt. Sac Relays as the Lady Raiders and No. 4 Red Raiders were competing in Walnut, Calif., and the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla.
The Mt. Sac Relays began today with a few Tech student-athletes competing. Weygandt won the women's Invitational pole vault by clearing 4.30M (14'-1.25"), which ties her season best.
Senior Darrell Roddick improved on his season-best mark in the triple jump. His jump of 16.35M (53'-9.75") is the third-best jump in Tech history and moves him into the top five on the NCAA descending order list.
Freshman Bryce Lamb was fifth in the men's long jump invitational competition. He jumped 7.70M (25'-3.25").
Caroline Karunde ran in the 5000M invitational on Friday night running a time of 15:58.43. Her time moves her into the top 10 in the NCAA. Former Tech standout Sally Kipyego won the race in a time of 15:02.83.
On day two of the John Jacobs Invitational, Tech had some strong marks set in wet weather.
The women's 4x400M relay of Erica Alexander, Terra Evans, Candace Jackson and Taylor Evans ran a 45.53 to win the relay.
The Tech men won both the 110M hurdles and 400M hurdles. Jansen Hyde won the 110M hurdles with a season-best time of 13.85 while Jamele Mason won the 400M hurdles crossing the line in 51.49.
The Lady Raiders had Tori Smith run a 13.56 to place third in the 110M hurdles and followed it up with a personal-best time of 1:03.19 in the 400M hurdles.
Matt Davidson won his first race of the season with a 1:53.61 in the 800M.
The throwers had a productive day as Tyler Menges placed second in the shot put with a mark of 17.01M (55'-9.75'). Ozie Okolie placed third in the hammer throw with a throw of 52.04M (170'-09"). Okolie followed her hammer performance with a second place in the discus throw. She threw 46.30M (151'-11") while teammate Ifeatu Okafor threw 44.78 (146'-11') for third.
Devin Bailey ran one of her best times of the season with a 2:13.75 to place fourth in the 800M.
Veronica DiLullo won the women's triple jump with a mark of 12.05M (39'-6.50") and then placed seventh in the long jump with a jump of 5.45M (17'-10.50").
