
LADY RAIDERS MAKE DEBUT IN THE USTFCCCA RANKINGS

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Lady Raiders track squad made a jump of 23 spots, the biggest jump of any team in the top 25, to move to No. 12 in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings compiled by Tom Lewis.
The Lady Raiders at No. 12 are the third ranked Big 12 squad in the latest rankings. The debut was helped by Terra Evans, Winrose Karunde, and Tori Smith. Evan moved to No. 8 on the 200M NCAA list with a 23.18 while both Karunde and Smith jumped into top 15 in the 3000M steeplechase and 100M hurdles, respectively.
The Red Raiders dropped a spot in this week rankings to No. 6 but is the second highest Big 12 school to be ranked. Tech was helped this week as Markus Henderson moved to No. 10 on the 200M NCAA list with a 20.69. The men's 4x400M of Bryce Brown, Zach Plinario, Latoy Williams and Jamele Mason ran a season best of 3:06.43 and is ranked ninth on the NCAA list.
A total of seven Big 12 schools are ranked on the men's side with the women having five squads ranked in the USTFCCCA rankings.
Tech will host Nebraska this weekend at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track for a dual meet this Saturday. Field events begin at 2 p.m. and running will start at 6 p.m. Fans who buy tickets to Saturday's baseball game against Missouri will receive free admission into the track meet.
