Lady Raiders Win Distance Medley Relay Title at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Tech women's distance medley relay highlighted the final day of the Texas Relays as it won its third distance medley relay title in the last four years.
The women's distance medley relay ran an 11:14.64 to win the race. The relay consisted of Purity Biwott, Jonisha Boleware, Gladys Kipsang and Caroline Karunde. Tech won the women's distance medley relay in 2007 and 2008.
The 400M hurdles started the day for Tech and junior transfer Bryce Brown ran the second-fastest time in the NCAA in the race. His time of 49.83 was right behind defending NCAA 400M hurdle champion Jeshua Anderson of Washington State's 49.77. Zach Plinario finished in seventh with a time of 52.15.
Senior Darrell Roddick put himself into the top five in the nation in the men's high jump at the Texas Relays. He cleared a season best of 2.19M (7'-2.25"). The jump is the third-best jump in Tech history and the best mark in seven years. The senior was the top collegian of the meet.
Sophomore Jamele Mason won the men's invitational 400M hurdles with a season-best time of 50.92.
Terra Evans crossed the line in a time of 11.45 in the final of the 100M placing seventh.
The women's 4x100M relay of Erica Alexander, Terra Evans, Candace Jackson and Taylor Evans ran a season best of 44.68 to place fourth in the final.
Tech will host its second home meet of the season next Sat., April 10, at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track Complex.
