LUBBOCK, Texas - For the second week in a row a Red Raider was named Co-Big 12 Athlete of the Week as Bryce Lamb earned the distinction this week after his performance at the Texas Tech vs. Nebraska Dual at the Terry and Linda Fuller Track.
Freshman Lamb captured the long jump and triple jump titles at the Texas Tech vs. Nebraska Dual. His mark of 8.05M (26'-5"), an outdoor season-best, ranks him No. 1 in the NCAA. His jump of 16.10M (52'-10") in the triple jump is ninth in the NCAA. Lamb is the only freshman in the nation ranked in the top 10 in both events.
Lamb and his fellow Red Raiders also made noise in the United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings compiled by Tom Lewis, as the squad moved to No. 4. It is a jump of two spots from the previous week. The Lady Raiders fell slightly to No. 18.
The No. 4 Red Raiders and No. 18 Lady Raiders have this week off to prepare and rest for the Big 12 Outdoor Championships being held in Columbia, MO., on May 28-30.
