
Wruck and Miller Earn Post-Season Awards

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's freshman Julian Wruck and sprints and hurdles coach Dion Miller were honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for being the Men's Mountain Region Field Athlete of the Year and Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.
Wruck has been the nation's leader in the discus since March 26 with his season best of 200'-2" (61.02M) and is the No. 1 seed headed into the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He had the best throw of either NCAA Preliminary round of 192'-7" (58.70M). The freshman placed second at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships behind the Kansas' Mason Finely who was named Midwest Regional Field Athlete of the Year.
Miller was named the Men's Mountain Regional Coach of the Year for the third-straight year. He has won a total of five Mountain Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award's as he was honored during the indoor season in 2008 and 2009. This season Miller had a Big 12 Champion in the 400M hurdles in Bryce Brown and advanced four men hurdlers to the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The 4x400M relay and Latoy Williams will also compete for Tech at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The USTFCCCA Region and Athletes and Coaches of the Year honors are voted on by the nation's coaches. Tech will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on June 9-12.
