LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech associate head track and field coach Rock Light will speak at the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's national convention on Tuesday in San Antonio. This will be Light's second time to speak at the annual convention. His address is scheduled for 9:45 a.m.
The convention will be held from Jan. 12-15 at the JW Marriott Hill Country in San Antonio, and will feature President of the NCAA Mark Emmert as the keynote speaker. Several noted coaches from across the country will also speak at the event.
Light has been a member of head coach Wes Kittley's staff since 2005. During the past two seasons Light has helped produce an NCAA All-American in every jumping event.
Throughout his last two seasons at Tech his jumpers have garnered seven All-American honors, six Big 12 individual titles and three Big 12 freshman of the year honors.
"Being asked by your national coaching organization to speak to your peers is an honor," Light said. "Being asked back to speak a second time was great. I am proud to represent Texas Tech University."
Light came to Texas Tech after coaching stints at track and field powers Oregon and LSU.
The Track and Field squad will begin their indoor season on Jan. 13 when the team hosts the Texas Tech Open.
