Tech Track to Host Texas Tech Open

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 3 Red Raiders and No. 12 Lady Raiders track teams will host the Texas Tech Open, the first home meet of the season for the squad, at the Terry & Linda Fuller Track starting at 11 a.m. on Sat., April 2.
Tech comes home after winning 14 titles at the UTEP Invitational. It is the first of two home meets that Tech will host this season.
The men's 400M hurdles should be a competitive race. The Red Raider hurdle crew will have Bryce Brown, Jamele Mason, Shane Brathwaite, Brandon Tucker and Ryan McDowell all running in the first heat. Brown and Mason are currently No. 1 and No. 2 in the nation with times of 49.76 and 50.26, respectively.
Omo Osaghae and Kelsey Lloyd are still in the top 10 of the 110M hurdles and 100M hurdles, respectively. Osghae is second in the nation with his 13.49 in the 110M hurdles while Lloyd ranks tied for fifth with her 13.25.
Terra and Taylor Evans are both in the top 10 of the 100M and 200M. Terra Evans has a 11.48 in the 100M which is good for sixth while her twin sister has a personal best of 23.37 in the 200M and is sitting tied for fifth.
Tech has a few in field events with national marks. Shade Weygandt is currently fourth with a clearance of 13'-11.25" (4.25M) in the pole vault. Julian Wruck is leading the men's discus with his throw of 197'-2" (60.10M) and Ifeatu Okafor is 10th in the discus. Okafor is also No. 7 in the shot put.
The teams competing in Tech's first home meet of the season will be Abilene Christian, Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico, Langston, Lubbock Christian, McMurry, New Mexico Junior College, New Mexico Military Institute, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oral Roberts, South Plains, Southern Nazarene, UTEP, Wayland Baptist, West Texas A&M and Western Texas College.
The field events will begin at 11 a.m. with the javelin with running schedule to start at 3 p.m. with the 4x100M relay.
