LUBBOCK, Texas -
The No. 19 Lady Raiders' distance medley relay set a new school record and moved up on the NCAA list at the Alex Wilson Invitational held in South Bend, Ind.
The women's distance medley relay changed its order at the Alex Wilson Invitational and with the change came a new school record. The relay of Caroline Jepleting, Meshawn Graham, Purity Biwott and Caroline Karunde ran an 11:07.18 to win the race.
It is a season-best time and breaks the school record set at the NCAA Indoor Championships last season. The time puts them at No. 7 in the NCAA.
The Lady Raiders distance squad added to season and personal bests. Winrose Karunde won the women's 5000M with a personal best of 16:12.83 with teammate Rose Tanui crossing the line in second with a personal best of 16:19.78.
Kelly Closse won the shot put and weight throw at the Arkansas Last Chance meet but didn't improve. She won the shot with a 16.20M/53'-1.75" and the weight with a mark of 19.77M/64'-10.50".
