Roddick and Murray Honored with Regional Awards

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 18 Red Raiders and No. 19 Lady Raiders acquired some post-season awards given out by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association as Darrell Roddick was named the Men's Mountain Regional Field Athlete of the Year and Jon Murray was named Women's Mountain Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.
Roddick won the Big 12 Indoor Championship in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 53'-3" (16.23M) and automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships. Roddick placed fourth in the high jump and has cleared a season best of 7'-3.25" (2.22M).
Murray's distance crew scored 42 points for the Lady Raiders at the Big 12 Indoor Championships and racked up 11 All-Conference honors. The distance medley relay is currently No. 7 in the NCAA and Purity Biwott and Caroline Jepleting ran season bests of 2:05.80 and 2:05.95, respectively, this past weekend.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders and Lady Raiders track teams will head to College Station, Texas, this weekend for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
