Jepleting Wins 1500M at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - Caroline Jepleting won the women's 1500M open run to highlight the second day of the Mt. SAC Relays for the Texas Tech track & field program.
Jepleting ran an impressive 1500M to start Friday's competition for Tech. The indoor All-American won the 1500M Open run with a personal best of 4:19.77. The time is the fifth-fastest in Texas Tech history and it sits sixth on the NCAA list.
Kelly Closse came close to breaking her personal best mark set just last week. The junior threw 170'-7" (51.99M) to place second in the open discus throw. It is the second-best throw of her career.
Zach Plinario ran a season best in the 400M with his 47.07. He finished second in his heat and fourth overall in the open 400M. Meshawn Graham ran a 55.04 to place second in her heat.
Devin Bailey set a new personal best with her 2:09.41 to place second in her heat of the 800M. Kearci Jobe ran the second-fastest time of her career with a 2:12.42 and won her heat.
Boston Spiva set a season best in the men's pole vault `C' section. He cleared 16'-00.75" (4.90M) to take third place.
Tech will begin competition at 11 a.m. tomorrow with the men's long jump.
