Tech Track Headed to Penn Relays and Payton Jordan

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 5 Red Raiders and No. 9 Lady Raiders will compete in the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Penn., starting on Thurs., April 28 and the Payton Jordan Cardinal held in Stanford, Calif., on Sun., May 1.
The Lady Raiders moved up from No. 15 to No. 9 this week in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings. The squad will begin the Penn Relays with the 4x100M heats followed by heats of the 4x400M. The women ran a season best of 3:33.36 ran at the Mt. SAC Relays.
The men will start competing on Friday as Bryce Brown will run the 400M hurdles. The Tech hurdle crew will be looking for at title as it will run in the shuttle hurdle relay on Friday. The tentative relay will consist of Shane Brathwaite, Jamele Mason, Omo Osaghae and Brand Tucker. All four student-athletes are ranked in the top 15 of the NCAA in the 110M hurdles.
Others competing at the Penn Relays will be Bryce Lamb. The sophomore is ranked No. 3 in the NCAA with a season best of 26'-6.25" (8.08M).
The Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational held in Stanford, Calif., on Sun., May 1, will be host to Tech's jumpers and distance runners. Shade Weygandt will be entered in the women's pole vault. The sophomore is No. 2 in the NCAA. Caroline Jepleting is scheduled to run the 800M as well.
