LUBBOCK, Texas - The No. 9 Lady Raiders track & field team had a rough start to the Penn Relays as neither relay team advanced to the next round.
The Lady Raiders started the day off fighting weather and injuries in the 4x100M relay. The leadoff leg, Tara Thomas, was running a good starting leg until she suffered an injury. Tech didn't quit as Terra Evans, Candace Jackson and Taylor Evans finished the race but in a less than desirable time of 48.26. The time put them in 45th.
The 4x400M relay struggled as well. Meshawn Graham, Jackson, Tiffany Hines, Taylor Evans ran a 3:43.42 to finish in 19th.
The second day of the Penn Relays for Tech will begin with the men's 400M hurdles at 9 a.m. EST.
