
Tech Track Puts 15 on Academic All-Big 12

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team put 15 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 team announced today by the conference.
The Lady Raiders put a total of 10 on the first team. Erica Alexander (general studies), Devin Bailey (nutritional science), Terra Evans (exercise and sport sciences), Jessie Gibbs (exercise and sport sciences), Michelle Guzman (exercise and sport sciences), Kearci Jobe (exercise and sport sciences), Kelsey Lloyd (family studies), Ifeatu Okafor (exercise and sport sciences), Katherine Priebe (mechanical engineering) and Shade Weygandt (psychology) were honored. The men had Nick Green (exercise and sport sciences) and Silas Kemboi (biochemistry) named to the first team.
Second team honors went to Katie Grimes (university studies), Gilbert Limo (accounting and economics) and Omo Osaghae (exercise and sport sciences).
To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
