Williams and Two Former Red Raiders Make National Teams

LUBBOCK, Texas - Tech's Latoy Williams along with former Red Raider Andrae Williams earned spots on the Bahamas' national team and former Lady Raider Tori Polk grabbed a spot on the US National team in the women's long jump.
Latoy Williams became a member of the Bahamas National team after placing fifth in the final of the 400M at the Bahamas' National Trials. Latoy Williams ran a 46.19 and will be a member of the relay pool. After running in the 400M, he teamed up with Demetrius Pinder and former Red Raiders Andrae Williams and Michael Mathieu to run a 3:02.56 in the 4x400M relay.
Andrade Williams also earned a spot on the Bahamas' team as a member of the relay pool.
Former Red Raider Tori Polk placed fourth in the women's long jump at the US Champs and grabbed a spot on the US National team for the IAAF World Championships. Her best jump was 21'-11" (6.68M) and it came on the first jump of the final. Polk earned a spot by Britteny Reese being the reigning World Champion.
Bryce Brown ran a 53.13 to finish in eighth place in the 400M hurdles. He was tripped up over his last hurdle to fall to eighth place. He was the only Red Raider to advance to the final at the US Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The IAAF World Championships will be held in Daegu, South Korea, will be held Aug. 27 through Sept. 4.
