Tech to be Represented at World Champs

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track program will be well represented over the next few days at the IAAF World Championships held in Dageu, South Korea held from Aug 27-Sept 4.
Former Red Raider and nine-time NCAA Champion Sally Kipyego will be running in the 10,000M for Kenya on the very first day of competition, Saturday, Aug. 27. The field includes former World Champion Linet Masai and Kenyan National Trial winner Vivian Cheruiyo. Kipyego's personal best in the 10,000M is 30:38.35.
Another former Red Raider, Tori Polk will be competing in the women's long jump for the United States in a talented field. Her season best jump is 22'-1.75" (6.75M) and she will compete on Saturday as well.
Texas Tech senior Jamele Mason will be running for Puerto Rico in the 400M hurdles. The two-time All-American in the 400M hurdles, he has a season best of 49.30. He will run on Monday, Aug. 29.
Jason Young will be throwing the discus for the United States. Young has a season-best throw of 214'-3" (65.30M) and will be competing in his first World Championships.
Michael Mathieu will be running the 200M and a member of the 4x400M relay pool along with Latoy Williams and Andrae Williams for the Bahamas. Shareefa Lloyd is a member of the Jamaican 4x400M relay pool.
