
Young Advances to Discus Final at World Champs

LUBBOCK, Texas - Former Red Raider Jason Young advanced to the final of the discus at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
Young qualified with a mark of 207'-2" (63.14M) and sits 11ths going into the final. He is the only American to advance to the final. It is Young's first time to advance to a World Championships final.
Texas Tech senior Jamele Mason ran a 49.98 in the second heat of the 400M hurdles qualifying round. Mason, running for Puerto Rico, was in lane one and placed 25th overall.
