Tech Set to Compete in Two Meets Over Weekend

Texas Tech is set to compete in two meets this weekend including the prestigious New Balance Invitational.

LUBBOCK, Texas - Fresh off their first road meet of the year, the Texas Tech track and field team will compete in two indoor meets this weekend, including their final home indoor meet of the season.
Head coach Wes Kittley will send a group of 21 athletes to New York City to compete in the prestigious New Balance Invitational inside the Amory Track and Field Center from Feb. 3-4.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech will host the Red Raider Open on Saturday inside the Athletic Training Center to bring the home indoor season to a close. A total of 56 teams have registered to compete in the Red Raider Open including several Division I programs.
The Red Raider Open is scheduled to begin Saturday 10 a.m. inside the Athletic Training Center.
In New York, Tech will join several elite programs from across the nation at the two-day New Balance Invitational meet. The meet is scheduled to begin Friday at 10:25 a.m. with the women's 3,000m race.
Combined, Tech enters the weekend of competition with 17 athletes ranked nationally in the Top 20 led by All-American long jumper Bryce Lamb, whose jump of 26' 0.75" on Jan. 20 currently ranks No. 2 in the nation. Lamb is set to compete this weekend at the New Balance Invitational.
