
Lady Raiders Remain at No. 8 in Latest Computer Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lady Raiders track and field squad remained at No. 8 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association computer rankings released on Tuesday.
This marks the third consecutive week the Lady Raiders have appeared at No. 8 in the USTFCCCA Top 25 Poll after opening the year at the No. 8 spot in the preseason rankings.

The No. 8 Lady Raiders currently have five athletes ranked in the Top 20 of the Division I national indoor performance list.
The Lady Raiders are coming off of an impressive showing at the New Balance Invitational meet in New York City this weekend. Junior Katie Grimes continued her strong season by breaking the school record in the 60-meter hurdles for the second time in two weeks. Grimes ran an 8.28 on Friday during the opening day of the meet.
Meanwhile, the 4x400 relay team ran a season-best time of 3:36.10 Saturday in New York to beat squads from No. 2 LSU and No. 3 Arkansas.
Representing the No. 8 Lady Raiders at the Red Raider Open this weekend, senior All-American Kelly Closse broke a school record in the weight throw with an NCAA automatic qualifying toss of 70'-9.00".
The team will return to action this weekend by competing in two meets. Kittley will send a group of distance runners to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the Tyson Invitational while the remainder of the team will compete at the UNM Don Kirby Collegiate Elite in Albuquerque, N.M.
