February 9, 2012
LUBBOCK, Texas - Fresh off of a successful weekend which included competition in two meets, the Red Raiders and No. 8 Lady Raiders are primed to compete in another pair of meets this weekend. The squad will send athletes to both the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville Ark., and the UNM Don Kirby Collegiate Elite in Albuquerque, N.M.
Joining Tech at the Tyson Invitational will be top squads from across the country including LSU, Georgia and the No. 1 ranked men's team in the country--host school Arkansas.
Meanwhile, Tech will also send 21 athletes to compete at the UNM Don Kirby Collegiate Elite in Albuquerque, where a flock of 12 of the top teams in the country are set to compete including Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, and Florida.
"We're trying to put them in the fire three weeks in a row," head coach Wes Kittleysaid. "We want it to become where it just becomes natural and normal. It's not anything that is going to shock them."
As has been the case throughout the 2012 indoor season, Kittley's squad will find itself competing against some of the top competition in the country. Between both meets over the weekend, the Red Raiders and No. 8 Lady Raiders will compete against 15 of the Top 25 teams in the nation.
