LUBBOCK, Texas - No. 29 Texas Tech (10-6) rolled to six straight-set singles wins to knock off Midwestern State (5-8), 6-0, on Friday evening at the McLeod Tennis Center.
The day started with identical 6-1, 6-1 victories for Vitor Manzini and Rafael Garcia.
Gonzalo Escobar then rolled to his school record 92nd career singles victory, while teammate Raony Carvalho won the 88th singles match of his career. Escobar ranks first in career wins, while Carvalho ranks third.
Tech then added win from Francisco Zambon and Raphael Pfister to close out the 6-0 win over Midwestern State, who is ranked No. 30 in NCAA Division II.
The Red Raiders return to action on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center, when Texas Tech will face New Mexico State.
