Brown, Bertelsen Lead Tech to Fourth Place

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Sarah Brown capped off her first collegiate tournament with a second consecutive 3-over par 75 to help lead Texas Tech to a fourth-place finish at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at Alvamar Golf Club.
Brown finished in ninth place at 7-over (73-75-75--223) followed by a 10th place finish by senior Stephanie Bertelsen at 8-over (77-77-70--224).
Bertelsen had the second-lowest score on the final day with a 2-under 70 after back-to-back 77s.
Junior transfer Gennai Goodwin also improved from her first two rounds with a 2-over 74 Tuesday to finish in a tie for 21st (78-77-74--229). Mariah Montoya (76-74-82--232) and Maddie Davis (83-81-82--246) rounded out the team scores for Tech.
Freshman Gabby Barker took the course by storm from day one and finished in a tie for 11th at 9-over (76-73-76--225) as an individual.
Tech will have the next two weeks off before traveling to South Carolina, Sept. 21-23 for the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman Golf Course.
