Women's Golf Tied for Fourth After First Round

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Texas Tech women's golf opened with a 5-over par 293 on Sunday to move into a tie for fourth at the Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman University.
Tech is just seven shots behind leader Furman, five shots behind No. 29 Wake Forest and four back of No. 38 Kansas. The Lady Raiders are tied with No. 31 Florida State and two shots ahead of No. 25 North Carolina.
Tech led all teams on the first day with 17 birdies and one eagle as well as in par 5 scoring at 8-under.
Newcomer and junior transfer Gennai Goodwin is tied for eighth place after a 1-under 71 in just her second tournament at Tech. She tallied five birdies, four bogeys and nine pars on Sunday.
Teammate and junior Sarah Brown is just one stroke back in 12th place after an even par 72 in the first round - her lowest score at Tech through two tournaments. She is averaging 73.75 strokes per round through four rounds this season.
Seniors Elin Arvidsson and Stephanie Bertelsen along with freshman Gabby Barker each fired 3-over 75s on Sunday to round out the scores.
Tech will tee off in the second round of the tournament beginning at 8:54 a.m. central time on the first hole alongside Florida State and North Carolina.
