Sabrina Federici collected a pair of pre-qualifying singles wins on day one of 2015 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

MALIBU, Calif -- Sabrina Federici and Gabriela Talaba picked up a pair of pre-qualifying singles victories for the Texas Tech women's tennis team on day one of the 2015 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Saturday at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center on the Pepperdine University campus.
"I was really proud of Sabrina and Gabriela's fight today," Texas Tech assistant coach Ric Mortera said. "They showed a true competitors spirit even when they were down in their matches. They stuck to their game plans, and they executed in pressure points against high quality opponents. Hopefully, they can continue to build off all the positives from today's matches and trust the process to have another great day tomorrow."
Talaba rebounded for a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 win over Pepperdine's Christine Maddox and knocked off Florida State's Yukako Noi by a 6-3, 6-4 margin. She has won all six of her singles matches during the fall season.
Federici battled to a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Ashley Dai of North Carolina and outlasted Long Beach State's Maeva Razakasoa in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2. Federici and Talaba will play for a slot in the 2015 Riviera/ITA All-American Qualifying Draw on Sunday
Sarah Dvorak dropped a 6-2, 7-6 decision against Pepperdine's Luisa Stefani. In doubles, Dvorak and Lynn Kiro fell to Anna Danilina and Brianna Morgan of Florida in a tiebreaker.
