
No. 35 Clemson Outlasts Texas Tech, 4-3

Jolan Cailleau won his 17th match of the season, but it was not enough as Clemson pulled past Texas Tech, 4-3.

AUBURN, Ala. - No. 35 Clemson battled back from a 3-2 deficit to outlast Texas Tech, 4-3, in the third place match at the 67th Annual Blue Gray National Tennis Classic at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.
The match was moved indoors on the campus of Auburn University due to inclement weather.
"It has been back-to-back heartbreakers," said Red Raider head coach Tim Siegel. "We were two points from winning the match, but it just did not happen for us."
Clemson took the doubles point outdoors after Hampton Drake and Christian Harris topped Texas Tech's tandem of Francisco Zambon and Jolan Cailleau, 6-3, at No. 2. Austin Ansari and Alejandro Augusto followed suit with 6-2 win at No. 3 over Connor Curry and Alex Sendegeya.
Tech's Felipe Soares, ranked No. 35 nationally, toppled No. 90 Harrington, 6-3, 6-4, to even the match, 1-1.
Sendegeya won his fifth straight match at improved to 12-6 on the spring with a come-from-behind win over Drake, 1-6, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3.
#125 Cailleau followed with his sixth straight win at No. 4, as he outlasted Ansari, 6-3, 6-4. For Cailleau, the sophomore from Belgium improved to 17-8 on the season and 10-2 in the spring.
Johnson pulled Clemson to within one, 3-2, with a 7-6, 6-3, over Tech's Curry. Augusto then upset No. 111 Hugo Dojas, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6. Dojas had a chance to close out the match after leading 5-3 in the third, but Augusto battled back and broke the Red Raider.
The match was decided at No. 5, when Daffra Sanon held off Zambon, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, for Clemson's fourth point.
Texas Tech returns to action on Saturday, as the Red Raiders host a double header against Nevada and UTSA at the McLeod Tennis Center.
