TUCSON, Arizona -- Texas Tech is in ninth place after one full round of play at the Wildcat Invitational at Sewailo Golf Club in Arizona on Monday.
The Lady Raiders are unofficially tied for 10th through 15 holes in the second round as play was postponed until Tuesday morning due to darkness. No scores are official until scorecards have been turned in for each player and are signed and reported.
Sarah Brown led all Lady Raiders in the first round with a 2-over par 74 and was tied for 27th after the first round. Freshman Gabby Barker was one stroke back in 37th with a 3-over 75 and Kimmy Hill was in a tie for 44th with a 4-over 76 along with Lauren Mason. Stephanie Bertelsen rounded out all the scores with a 5-over 77.
Senior Elin Arvidsson, playing as an individual, shot a 4-over 76 in the first round.
Brown recovered nicely on the second nine Monday morning with three birdies after a 4-over start. The better play on holes one through nine (Tech's second nine) held true for Tech as a team. The Lady Raiders, who teed off on No. 10, were 18-over on holes 10-18 and were even on holes one through nine with 13 birdies.
Tech will continue second round play beginning at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday. The third and final round will begin at 11 a.m. CT. Go to BirdieFire.com for live updates throughout the tournament.
