Tech Finishes Sixth in Arizona

TUCSON, Arizona -- Gabby Barker fired a tournament-best 2-under par 70 and Sarah Brown closed out with an even par 72 to lead Texas Tech to a sixth place finish in the final round at the Wildcat Invitational at Sewailo Golf Club on Tuesday.
Tech (301-296-291--888) closed out the tournament at 24-over par and with its best team round of the week, moving up three spots on the final day. The No. 39 Lady Raiders finished higher than nine other teams including No. 47 Houston (+39) and conference rival No. 46 Kansas (+49).
Elin Arvidsson, playing as an individual this week, tied Brown for the lowest three-day total and tied for 21st overall at 6-over (76-71-75--222).
Brown birdied two of her first four holes before playing even par over her final nine holes.
Barker (75-78-70--223) birdied three of her first four holes and then found three more birdies on her second nine to get to 5-under on the day before a bogey at the par-3 seventh and double bogey on the eighth. She finished in the top 10 in the tournament on par 4s with a 4.1 average over three days (3-over).
Kimmy Hill (76-73-75--224) and Lauren Mason (76-74-74--224) each finished in a tie for 30th at 8-over while Stephanie Bertelsen (77-73-75--225) rounded out the scores with a tie for 38th at 9-over.
Tech has finished in the top six in five of its seven tournaments this season, including its last three.
The Lady Raiders will now travel to Charleston, South Carolina to defend its title at the Briar's Creek Invitational, March 23-24.
