Tech in Fourth Place After Two Rounds

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Gabby Barker fired a second round 2-under par 70 as Texas Tech ended the first day in fourth place after two rounds at the Web.com Intercollegiate at Marsh Landing Country Club.
No. 43 Tech (287-290--577) is 1-over and just five shots behind No. 31 Ohio State and six shots behind No. 36 Florida State. The Lady Raiders are five shots ahead of Illinois and 15 shots ahead of No. 44 Coastal Carolina.
Kimmy Hill (68-70--138), playing as an individual this week, leads all Tech golfers in third place overall at 6-under par. She tallied 11 birdies on Monday and is only three strokes off the lead.
Barker (74-70--144) birdied three of her last seven holes and five total in her second round Monday. Teammate Lauren Mason (68-76--144) also sits in a tie for ninth with Barker after carding a team-low, 4-under 68 in the first round. She birdied three of the four par fives on Monday including both on the backside to help Tech build a one-stroke lead after the first round. The Lady Raiders lead all teams in scoring on par fives after two rounds at 7-under par (4.83).
Elin Arvidsson (74-72--146) and Sarah Brown (71-77--148) are each inside the top 35 with Stephanie Bertelsen (79-72--151) rounding out the team scores.
Tech will tee off in the final round with the leaders on holes one through four beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday.
