Tech Finishes Tied for Third at SMU

DALLAS -- Texas Tech finished the final round with a 294 to move up into a tie for third on Saturday in the final round of the SMU Invitational at Dallas Athletic Club.
No. 40 Tech (303-291-294--888) finished in the top three of a tournament for the fifth time this season and in the top six for the sixth straight tournament. Tech has finished outside the top six only two times out of 10 tournaments.
The No. 40 Lady Raiders tied No. 24 UC Davis while finishing 12 shots better than No. 27 Miami and 26 shots better than No. 31 Iowa State.
Freshman Gabby Barker (75-72-75--222) and Lauren Mason (72-75-75--222) each finished tied for seventh. Senior Elin Arvidsson (78-72-73--223) finished strong in her final round on Saturday with two birdies and seven pars on her final nine.
Stephanie Bertelsen bounced back nicely after an 83 in her opening round by going 1-under par on her final 36 holes, including a 71 on Saturday to tie for 23rd. Junior Kimmy Hill (78-77-80--235) rounded out the team scores and tied for 52nd.
Junior Sarah Brown, playing as an individual this week, finished in a tie for 35th.
The team will now take the next two weeks to prepare for the Big 12 Championship, April 24-26 at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio.
