LUBBOCK, Texas -- When it comes to men's tennis, arguably there is no tougher league in the country as all six teams in the Big 12 Conference are ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Top 25 released on Tuesday.
Tim Siegel's Red Raiders are No. 23 this week, marking the fourth straight week Texas Tech has been in the Top 25. It marks the 10th time in the last 12 seasons that Texas Tech has been ranked in the Top 25. The Red Raiders have also been in the ITA Top 75 since March 14, 2002.
Felipe Soares, a junior from Brazil, moved from No. 40 to No. 35 this week after upending TCU's No. 36 Nick Chappell in Fort Worth. Soares is 19-11 on the season and has gone 7-9 against nationally ranked players, while playing No. 1 for Texas Tech.
Jolan Cailleau, a sophomore from Belgium, moved from No. 113 to No. 114 this week. He has won 11 straight matches and improved to 11-1 at No. 4, which is the most wins at No. 4 since Vitor Manzini won 11 matches in 2012. Overall Cailleau is 23-8.
In doubles, Texas Tech's Soares and Hugo Dojas, a junior from Brazil, are ranked No. 33 this week. The Brazilian duo is 12-6 on the season.
