Weldon & Rivera Wrap Up Tech's Regular Season

Kole Weldon placed second in both the shot put and discus at the Longhorn Invitational, on Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Tech track & field's regular season came to an end on Saturday, as Kole Weldon competed at the Longhorn Invitational, in Austin, Texas, and Nick Rivera ran at the Payton Jordan Invitational, in Stanford, Calif.
Weldon competed in the shot put and discus in Austin for the No. 6 Red Raiders, taking second in the shot put, with a launch of 18.81m/61-8.50--his second-best throw of the season--and placing second in the discus as well, with a best throw of 57.29m/187-11.
At the Payton Jordan Invitational, Rivera competed in the 1,500 meters, where he ran a 3:49.65 to take seventh in his heat.
Texas Tech track & field will return to action May 15-17, at the Big 12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where the Texas Tech men will look to defend their team title.
