Texas Tech Men Climb to No. 15 in USTFCCCA Rankings

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The Texas Tech men's track & field team jumped to No. 15 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) computer rankings.
The Red Raiders moved up two spots from No. 17, where they debuted in the preseason poll.
Last weekend, the Red Raiders put together the fifth-fastest 4x400-meter relay time in the country this season, finishing first with a time of 3:07.40. The quartet of Steven Champlin, Joseph Richards III, C.J. Jones and Kyle Collins not only brought home the win in the event, but the time was the 10th-fastest mark in the indoor school record books.

Jones also posted the best 800-meter time in the conference this season, placing second on Saturday at 1:50.02, which was also a personal-best. Brandon Bray improved his top collegiate clearance in the pole vault after sailing over the bar at 5.31m/17-5. In his Red Raider debut, Benard Keter recorded a second-place mark in the mile, pacing to a time of 4:06.88.
The Red Raiders travel to Albuquerque for the first of back-to-back weeks for the New Mexico Team Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 30.
