TEXAS TECH TEAM NOTES
•  Texas Tech's streak of nine-straight game of scoring 50 or more points inside Jones AT&T Stadium came to an end today. It was previously the longest such streak in NCAA history. The streak began at the start of the 2015 season.
•  Texas Tech's 379 yards of total offense marked its 58th-straight game with at least 325 yards of total offense, the longest active streak in the FBS.
•  Texas Tech has now scored in 238 games dating back to the 1997 season, a streak that ranks 11th nationally and second in the Big 12 Conference.
•  Texas Tech had previously scored at least 25 points in each of its last 21 games dating back to the 2014 season. It was the longest active streak in the country.
•  Texas Tech's 17 points marked its fewest in a game since the Red Raiders were held to 13 on Nov. 1, 2014, against Texas.Â
•  Texas Tech had not previously been held to 17 points or less at home since falling to Texas, 34-13, in 2014.
•  Texas Tech was shut out in the second quarter. It snapped 28-consecutive quarters with points dating back to the first quarter in the game at Texas last year.
•  Texas Tech's seven first-half points marked a season low. The Red Raiders came in today's game averaging 34.0 points per game in the first half alone.
 MAHOMES MOVES INTO THIRD PLACE ON TEXAS TECH CAREER PASSING CHART
•  Patrick Mahomes II threw for over 300 yards for the 18th time in his career and the fifth time this season. Mahomes finished 28-of-44 for 305 yards and one touchdown before exiting the game early in the fourth quarter.
•  Mahomes' performance pushed him past Seth Doege (2009-12) for third all-time among the Texas Tech careeer yardage leaders. Mahomes now has 8,769 yards over his career.
NOTING THE RED RAIDERS
•  Jonathan Giles was on the receiving end of Texas Tech's first touchdown of the afternoon as he hauled in a 44-yard missle from Patrick Mahomes II. It marked Giles' team-leading eighth receiving touchdown of the season. Giles recorded his third 100-yard game of the season (and career) with eight catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns. His multi-touchdown performance marked his third of the season (and career).
•  Ian Sadler put together his best performance of the season, catching four passes for a season-high 93 yards.
•  Clayton Hatfield connected on his fifth field goal of the season and 19 of his career with 10:04 remaining in the third quarter. Hatfield's 42-yarder was one yard shy of his season high.
•  Kisean Allen made his third consecutive start at safety and matched his career-high with six tackles, all solo, during today's game.
•  Jah'Shawn Johnson amassed a team-leading and season-high 10 tackles highlighted by eight solo stops. It marked his third career double-digit tackle performance (16 tackles at Arkansas • 2015 and 11 tackles at West Virginia • 2015). He is the second Red Raider to pile up 10-plus tackles this season as Jordyn Brooks secured 10 stops at Arizona State.
•  Reginald Davis III recorded a 46-yard kickoff return with 10:15 remaining in the fourth quarter. It marked the longest kick return for a Red Raider this season.
•  Da'Leon Ward saw his first action in the Red Raider backfield during the fourth quarter. He finished with 27 yards on six carries.
•  Nic Shimonek entered the contest the fourth quarter, in relief of Patrick Mahomes II. He was 4-of-6 for 40 yards and one touchdown and connected on a 16-yard scoring strike with Giles for his sixth passing touchdown on the season.
