Gabby Barker fired her second-straight under-par round Sunday to close the Landfall Tradition
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech climbed the leaderboard for the second-straight day at the Landfall Tradition as the Lady Raiders finished in a tie for seventh following Sunday's final round at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Â
The Lady Raiders, who were in 12th place to close Friday's opening round, jumped up two spots into 10th place Saturday before moving into a tie with N.C. State for seventh overall. Tech finished at an 18-over 882 for the tournament after a 3-over 291 final round.
Â
"This was a good tournament for us," Tech head coach JoJo Robertson said. "I'm really pleased with the way the team played. This was a very strong field and we showed that we can compete with the best."
Â
Tech finished just a stroke back of top-ranked Alabama, which entered the tournament as the nation's No. 1 team in the latest Golfweek rankings before finishing in sixth place. The 18-team field featured 12 schools that were ranked in the top 40 by Golfweek.
Â
Wake Forest and South Carolina shared the team title as the Gamecocks made a final-round rally with an 8-under 280 card. Furman, Purdue and Oklahoma rounded out the top five.
Â
Gabby Barker was Tech's top player over the final 36 holes as she followed up a 5-under 67 card on Saturday with a 1-under showing Sunday. The performance pushed Barker into a tie for 16th overall at 1-over for the tournament.
Â
Lauren Mason added an even-par final round to end the event in a tie for 33rd at 8-over. Mami Yamamoto and Caralyn Barker posted 2-over final rounds to complete Tech's score while Sofia Garcia was 5-over to end the weekend.
Â
Yamamoto finished in a tie for 27th in the individual standings while Garcia and Caralyn Barker closed the event in a tie for 45th overall.
Â
The Lady Raiders will take just over a week off before closing their fall campaign Nov. 7-8 at the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU.
