Texas Tech Hosts McLennan in Saturday Doubleheader

Red Raiders set to play a pair against the Highlassies beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Rocky Johnson Field
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball will partake in its seventh and eighth fall exhibitions Saturday, Nov. 12, as it takes on McLennan Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Rocky Johnson Field. Admission to each of Tech's eight fall exhibitions is free.
The Red Raiders have outscored their opponents 58-10 while compiling a 6-0 record this fall with wins over Eastern New Mexico, Howard College, Midland College and Odessa College. Senior catcher Susan Welborn leads the Red Raiders with a .643 batting average this fall and is one of eight Red Raiders hitting .400 or better. In the circle, freshmen Hannah Broseman and Kassidy Scott have been impressive, combining to give up just one run in 21 innings pitched.
McLennan, located in Waco, Texas, won the National Junior College Association of America's Region V Championship and earned a trip to the NJCAA Division I National Championships last season. The Highlassies battled the University of Texas earlier this fall in Austin, falling 1-0 as the Longhorn's walked off on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh.
The Red Raiders enter their third year under Gregory. Texas Tech compiled a 23-32 record last season, including a 6-12 mark in Big 12 play. Twelve letterwinners return from last year's squad, headlined by senior outfielder Kierra Miles, who led the Big 12 and set a school record with 17 home runs in 2016 and knocked two out of the park in the last game she played against Howard.
