Grubb Recognized as CoSIDA Academic All-American

Grubb becomes the program’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American since 2008.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Senior setter Marguerite Grubb has been named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team in an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.

Grubb is the lone Big 12 representative one of just 18 volleyball players from universities across the country to be recognized as Academic All-Americans and is one of just five selections to post a 4.00 GPA.

This marks the fourth time Grubb has been recognized for her work in the classroom this year. She was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District for the third time in her career, Academic All-Big 12 for the third straight year and honored as the Red Raider Club Scholar Athlete of the Month for October.

A native of Houston, Texas, Grubb recently completed her senior campaign for the Red Raiders in which she led the team with 1,041 assists to give her back-to-back 1,000 assist seasons. Additionally, she was one of six Big 12 student-athletes to average over 10.00 assists per set this season while climbing into the Texas Tech record books, finishing eighth in career assists with 2,696.

An accounting major, Grubb posted a perfect 4.00 GPA while earning her undergraduate degree and is currently pursuing her master's in accounting. She becomes the program's first CoSIDA Academic All-American since Alicia Ostmeyer in 2008 and seventh overall.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America Teams are selected by vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America's Board of Directors and the Academic All-America committee following the announcement of the Academic All-District honorees. In order to be considered for CoSIDA Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve, have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, have played in at least half of the team's games at the position listed for their nomination and have completed one full calendar year at his or her current institution.
