Texas Tech will take part in the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational beginning Sunday morning in San Antonio
LUBBOCK, Texas – The 25th-ranked Texas Tech women's golf team will play in its third tournament of the 2017-18 season beginning Sunday when the Red Raiders tee off at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio.
Â
The Red Raiders, who is coming off a sixth-place showing almost two weeks ago at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, will play 18 holes each day as part of the 54-hole tournament which concludes Tuesday.
Â
Tech is the third-highest ranked team in the 14-team field behind only No. 1 Arkansas and No. 9 Oklahoma. The field also features No. 28 Denver and No. 30 Houston as well as Big 12 foes Kansas State and TCU.
Â
The Red Raiders will utilize only a four-player lineup this week as Gabby Barker will miss due to conflicting dates with the LPGA stage II qualifying that ends Sunday in Florida. Barker will need a solid final round to advance to the third and final stage of qualifying after shooting a 6-over-par 78 Saturday afternoon that dropped her into a tie for 109th at 8-over for the tournament, one stroke off the cut.
Â
Tech will also be without Sofia Garcia due to an injury. The Tech lineup of senior Lauren Mason, juniors Mami Yamamoto and Emma Ballard and then freshman Louisa Brunt will have each of its scores count to the team total over all three days of the tournament.
Â
The Red Raiders will have an 11 a.m. tee time Sunday morning followed by 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. starts each of the next two days. Live scoring will be available throughout the week at www.BirdieFire.com.
